Bliźniacze, bo różniące się jedynie pojemnością dysków, kamery oznaczone jako XR500 i 520 są bezpośrednimi następcami bardzo dobrze ocenianych modeli SR11 i 12. Pod względem budowy korpusów nie różnią się znacznie od poprzedników - pozostawiono charakterystyczne pokrętło do ręcznego ustawiania ostrości oraz dotykowy wyświetlacz LCD o rozdzielczości przeszło 900 tysięcy pikseli. Istotnie zmodyfikowano za to ich wnętrze - konstruktorzy zastosowali nową optykę (XR500 i 520 mogą obejmować szerszy plan) i wykonany w nowej technologii przetwornik CMOS (Exmor R). Nowe kamery dysponują także odbiornikami GPS.
